in "little big man" there is this one shot where the US cavalry just got done killing all these indians, and the camera focuses on the cavalry band, but the camera is in front of a fire, so you get that heat, blurry effect...and then it cuts to dustin hoffman's broken face, in tears...all of this in silence

If we're talking reality, the video of an Arab being punished for rape probably ranks up high. I'll give you a hint: if they cut off your hand for stealing in Saudi Arabia with a broadsword, how do you think they would react to a rapist?

The video of the Russian soldier being decapitated by Afghan rebels is rather disenchanting.

I remember a scene from Oz where Guard Brass slices open Morales' "Achilles Heel" while the other guards hold him down. Couldn't even stand for hours after seeing that. It was even worse than when Martinez doused Officer Brass with his own bodily excrement.

However, these are just the absolute worst I could think of, though they've done their job of affecting me emotionally, and physically, they really don't fall into your definition. The final shot in this movie does.

fiction: there are some great shots in requiem for a dream. The old woman walking the snowy curb, totally lost is one of the best.

Damn, fiction's hard. We're being spoiled with too many great shots all the time.

non fiction: i bet you've all seen the poster. It's worldwar II, and the german officer leaps over the barbed wires. Great stuff. (the clip)

At first is a shot of a ballot ticket for an election.

WIDER: Two metal claws comes into view. Picks up the ticket.

WIDER: The claws are the prosthetic extension of someone's feet.

WIDER: The person, with no arms and no legs places the ticket into a ballot box.

Can't remember where I saw it but that image always sticks with me.
